How do I add a new freeform page?
As hard as we try to automate page creation with MenuWare, you
may occasionally need to create a page that we don't have a template
for. Before doing this, make sure that there isn't a good place
to put it. The news section is a great place
for many documents.
To create a new freeform document:
- Choose the File Manager item of your site's Content menu.
- Click on the Add File link at the top of the page.
- You can add files by three means - Type From Scratch
(you type it yourself),
Upload From Hard Disk (you send a file on your hard disk), or
Copy From The Web
(you copy from an existing web document). Let's try Type From Scratch for this
example. Click that link.
- Fill in the entries in the form.
- Choose a filename - This should be "index.html" or something similar.
- Describe this file - This is freeform text that only you will see.
- Enter text here - This is the actual contents of your webpage.
You don't need to add headers and footers. You can paste content from
other documents, but keep in mind that images will not come through.
- Add To Linkbar - You can use this option to add a link to your new
page to the linkbar at the top of your pages. Use this sparingly, because
it can get crowded.
- Click the "Add File" button. This will create your document.
- The next page will give you information about how to reference your file.
There are two URLs. The first will give you only what you typed in.
The second (templated file) will give you your text sandwiched between
headers and footers. You can use this URLs anywhere now.
